Julie C. Peña, MSW, joined CitiWide Harm Reduction in June 2009 as the Director of Human Services, overseeing CitiWide’s comprehensive harm reduction case management and housing placement programs, including mental health and medical care coordination services. She has over 15 years of experience working with active drug users and people living with HIV and Hepatitis C. Prior to join CitiWide, she was the program director of a housing program for women transitioning from the correctional system.
Ms. Peña holds a masters degree in social work from the Hunter College School of Social Work. She earned a BA in human and community services from SUNY Empire State College. She is an appointed member of the New York City Commission on HIV/AIDS and a board member of Casa Ayuda Intermedial Menestero (CAIM), a nonprofit agency serving active drug users in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. She is a former recipient of the Housing Works Keith D. Cylar AIDS Activist Award.
